The jewelry sold by Silver Jewelry by JC is made through a complex process. Our 925 fine (sterling) silver jewelry should not be compared in price with the stamped-out variety imported from foreign countries. We use the finest chains and findings. Each piece of jewelry we sell is guaranteed under normal wearing conditions.

10 STEPS REQUIRED TO CREATE “LOST WAX” JEWELRY

  1. Artwork.

  2. Wax carving.
  3. Production of metal prototype: The wax carving is attached to a wax sprue inside a cylindrical casting flask, into which investment (similar to plaster) is poured. After the plaster hardens around the wax carving, the flask is placed in an oven where all the wax melts leaving a cavity the shape of the original carving. Hot metal is forced into the cavity using a centrifuge. The metal cools and hardens to form the prototype.
  4. Production of rubber mold: Special molding rubber is fitted around the prototype and placed in a mold frame which is put in a vulcanizer which softens the rubber around the prototype to form a mold.
  5. An injection machine is used to force wax under pressure into the rubber mold to produce a wax pattern of the desired piece of jewelry.
  6. A number of wax patterns are attached to a wax sprue trunk, around which a cylindrical casting flask is fitted. Using the same principal described in Step 3 above, the wax patterns are turned into cavities into which liquid sterling silver is forced. After hardening, the investment plaster is broken away from the silver jewelry shapes which are a dull white color.
  7. The extra spruing pieces are cut and trimmed from the jewelry shapes.
  8. The jewelry is then cleaned with chemical baths.
  9. Findings are added (bails, posts, etc.).
  10. Final polishing brings out the luster of the silver.

Some pieces are then 2-Toned with 24kt gold plating to enhance the designs. This is done with an electro-plating pen dipped in the gold.

All gold jewelry pieces, Vermeil, are totally immersed in a 14kt gold plating bath.
